TIPS FOR ESL TEACHERS
Similar to other ESL learners, native French
language speakers may have many difficulties learning English. Fortunately,
because English and French use the same Latin alphabet system and have
lexical similarities of 27% (see Classification), students are able to
integrate their knowledge of French and English more easily than other
ESL learners.
The following is a list of problems that have
been identified by French language teachers, ESL teachers and French students
learning English. It is followed by a list of activities and lesson plans
that can be used to help native French speakers acquire the English language.
Feel free to use or modify the activities.
