Food packaging

In Canada, all packaging must come with both English and French labels. These labels can be used by teachers to help with finding cognates and other French-English equivalents. Below are some examples. The exercise can be done orally, posing questions to the students, or by a worksheet, asking comprehension questions at a level appropriate to the student's ability.

Possible questions:

1.What English words do you recognize?

2.What English words are the same as the French ones?

3.Which English words look similar to the French ones?

4.Which English words look nothing like the French ones?

5.How can you tell what "X" means? (bran, new, etc.)
