Survey

The World Language Fair for Educators (WLFE) is a project sponsored by a Teaching and Learning Enhancement Grant at the University of British Columbia. The purpose of the web site is to provide information for teachers about the linguistic diversity of the students found in many classrooms in British Columbia. Research a language spoken by your students. Learn about its history and use, alphabet, grammar, writing system, problems speakers of this language face with English, communication patterns and cultural information.

This website has been created by UBC students enrolled in an undergraduate course called "Applied Linguistics for Teachers." The information provided reflects the students' understanding of the source readings, their own experiences as students and/or teachers, and their research on the languages they chose to examine. Visitors to this site are encouraged to use their own judgment as to the reliability of the information presented.

Send your comments and questions so that we may improve this site for educators.
