Quest:  Information Literacy
Dear teacher-librarians:

School districts across North America are adapting new information
literacy guidelines for the 21st century. District #35 is in the process of
preparing its guidelines. We need your help.
In this webquest, you will look at resources on information literacy and
make recommendations.


 

Process
Read the first two resources for a general overview Next, read
the other resources for information and suggestions.

Some things to think about
As you read keep the following questions in mind:
What is information literacy?
What does it mean to be information-literate?
What skills should an information literate person have?
How should information literacy skills be evaluated?
How can information literacy promote critical thinking and
problem-solving skills?
What special programs should the district adopt?
How can teacher-librarians foster information literacy skills?
List some goals, objectives and outcomes for information literacy?

Conclusion

The primary purpose of this webquest is to receive your input.
Outcomes:
Upon completion of this webquest you:

• will have a better understanding of information literacy
• will begin to incorporate some of the ideas and concepts into
your lessons.
