Information Literacy

As we approach the 21st century, schools are under more and more pressure to ensure our students are prepared to deal with the information age. The B.C. Ministry of Education documents highlight this need and imply that success is dependent on the students' ability to interact with, evaluate, and make meaning of information available in a vast array of print and electronic resources. this ability is known as Information Literacy. How do we develop information literate students? What does an information literate school community look like? In our coursework this summer, we investigated this provocative concept and developed a webquest to introduce you to resource based learning, which we believe to be a major component of information literacy.

The following topics are related to resource based learning. Through investigating these topics, you will be able to develop and understanding of this important aspect of information literacy.

We are using the webquest format to show you one of the instructional strategies we learned about.
